Are you a Grade 6 Research Delivery Nurse or Midwife looking to develop research skills and knowledge? Do you have an interest in exploring issues relating to diversity and inclusion in research? Would you like the chance to lead your own project?

The Oxford Biomedical Research Centre and University of Oxford are supporting a part-time (0.4 WTE) secondment to the Critical Care Research Group to undertake a project exploring and addressing barriers to research participation in underserved and diverse groups.

Applications are welcomed from research delivery nurses or midwives in any department. Our research is not limited to critical care but focused on developing technological improvements to manage acute deteriorations in ward- based care.

Based in the Kadoorie Centre, the post holder will work closely with the research delivery team in their daily activities which include approaching and consenting patients, testing new vital signs monitoring equipment, and collecting data for studies. Working as part of the research delivery team the post holder will specifically investigate the barriers to participation in research, with a focus on protected characteristics.

The post holder will also be supported to conduct a project that includes a literature review, liaison with local and national research delivery teams, and development of recommendations to improve access to participation in our research studies. You will also have access to 1:1 research mentoring from experienced researchers, and peer support from the Research Group.

Employment will remain within the University of Oxford with an honorary contract with the Oxford University NHS Foundation Trust and will include access to relevant training courses provided by the university.

Previous experience of research delivery in a healthcare setting and project work is essential. A strong interest in maximising diversity and inclusion in research participation is essential.

This post is part-time (15 hours/ 40% FTE) and fixed for 6 months .
