Essential Job Duties

This position will be the lab manager for the Translational Cardiac Genetics and Pharmacogenomics Laboratory. Providing technical and research support related to translational veterinary cardiology and cardiac genetics involving laboratory management and execution of preclinical and clinical veterinary cardiovascular research.

Qualifications

Minimum Experience/Education

Bachelor's degree and two years of general research experience; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.

All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.

Other Required Qualifications

  • Extensive feline and canine animal handling experience including restraint for diagnostic cardiovascular procedures such as electrocardiography and echocardiography.
  • Demonstrated skill to independently balance multiple responsibilities related to different projects simultaneously
  • Demonstrated knowledge of sterile technique and the skills to prevent contamination of laboratory areas or animal procedures.
  • Demonstrated skills in mathematics sufficient to perform calculations for drug dosing and preparation of buffers, reagents and diluents.
  • Demonstrated computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft office software
  • Demonstrated skills to follow complex written and oral instructions and maintain accurate records as well as follow laboratory protocols and safety regulations.
  • Preferred Qualifications

  • Familiarity with a variety of the research fields concepts, practices and procedures.
  • Demonstrated experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.
