Mission Statement

Michigan Medicine improves the health of patients, populations and communities through excellence in education, patient care, community service, research and technology development, and through leadership activities in Michigan, nationally and internationally. Our mission is guided by our Strategic Principles and has three critical components; patient care, education and research that together enhance our contribution to society.

Job Summary

An NIH-funded Postdoctoral Research Fellow position is available immediately in the Department of Pathology at the University of Michigan Medical School, a top-tier research institution. Our group investigates the epigenetic, biochemical and cellular mechanisms underlying acute myeloid and lymphoid leukemia, with a focus on characterization of epigenetic protein complex regulation and biochemistry, leukemia modeling in mice, genome-wide epigenetic alterations in disease, cell biology and transcriptomics. Current projects explore the biochemical regulation of epigenetic complexes regulating self renewal gene programs in normal and diseased cells, uncovering novel mechanisms regulating pro-leukemic gene programs to identify potential therapeutic targets, and examining anti-tumor activity associated with targeting epigenetic regulators in mouse models.

Responsibilities*

Lead independent and collaborative projects investigating epigenetic mechanisms in AML.

Design and conduct experiments using murine models, immunological assays (flow cytometry, IFA, ELISA), molecular biology approaches (qPCR, transcriptomics, ChIP-seq, CRISPR, ATAC) and biochemical assays (IP/WB, chromatography, PTM, FP, etc.).

Analyze and interpret data, prepare manuscripts, and present findings at national and international conferences.

Required Qualifications*

PhD (or equivalent) in cancer biology, biochemistry, molecular biology, or a related field.

Strong background in cancer biology, epigenetics and transcriptional regulation.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Desired Qualifications*

Preferred but not required: expertise in bioinformatics (e.g., R/Python)
