  • Role Description Department

    We are seeking to recruit an experienced research fellow to work within the Adult Social Care Research Group, in the School for Business and Society with particular responsibility for leading qualitative data collection and analysis.

    Current projects will include an ongoing evaluation of an NIHR funded Adult Social Care Research Partnership across universities and local authorities, and the development of a core outcome set for occupational therapy in adult social care services.

    Role

    You will work closely with Mark Wilberforce (Reader) and Phillip Whitehead (Senior Research Fellow) across a number of funded social care projects. A range of methods will be used across the projects and by the role holder but they will have particular responsibility for leadership of the qualitative research and will also contribute leadership of qualitative methods across the wider research group. You will actively participate in the planning and management of research projects, including supervising the work of others and providing expert advice and guidance. The role holder will also contribute and/or lead on the production of research outputs.

    Skills, Experience & Qualifications needed
  • Undergraduate degree in a subject aligned to health, social care or the social sciences
  • PhD in a subject aligned to health, social care or the social sciences or equivalent experience
  • Knowledge in applied social care research to engage in high quality research
  • Knowledge of the place of theory and analytical frameworks in contributing to applied qualitative research
  • Knowledge of qualitative research methods and analysis
  • Knowledge of a range of research techniques and methodologies
  • Ability to lead and/or take responsibility for a small research project or identified parts of a large project
  • Research expertise in an area that will complement and enhance the department's research strategy and goals
