Research Fellow in Multiphase flows and Corrosion Science

Do you have a background in gas or multiphase flows for energy applications, or corrosion and colloid science? Do you want to further your career in one of the UK's leading research-intensive universities?

We require a future research leader to join us on two related projects, focused on improving our understanding of pipeline flows and corrosion science for net zero energy applications. Firstly, you will be working with Roemex Ltd to establish how polymeric corrosion inhibitors lead to the release of naturally occurring radioactive material (NORM) in hydrothermal wells. You will also be investigating how we can develop new lead abatement solutions using novel agitated plug flow reactors.

Secondly, you will be working with Sellafield Ltd, the UK's largest nuclear site operator, as part of the Centre of Expertise in Flammable Gases. Here, you will be developing analytical and simulation models to predict pipeline hydrogen release from nuclear wastes, that are formed from corrosion and radiolysis. You will also help supervise a number of ongoing student projects, and liaise with our industrial partners, as part of our wider leading-edge research into the Energy Transition and Net Zero.

We are open to discussing flexible working arrangements.
