About This Opportunity

Join a collaborative, inclusive and internationally recognised research environment focused on improving outcomes for individuals with communication disability. As a Research Fellow, you will contribute to an established program of impactful research spanning hearing health, communication disability, person- and family-centred care, co-design, implementation and evaluation. Working closely with the Head of School and an interdisciplinary network of research collaborators, you will contribute to existing and emerging projects while developing your own complementary research profile, building meaningful partnerships, securing competitive funding, and creating positive change through research translation and impact.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Research: Develop an independent and/or team research program in hearing health and communication disability research, publish high-quality research outputs, contribute to competitive funding applications, and progress research translation and impact.

  • Teaching: Contribute to undergraduate and postgraduate teaching activities where required, maintaining high standards of teaching quality and student outcomes.

  • Supervision and Researcher Development: Supervise Honours and Higher Degree by Research students, support researcher capability development, facilitate engagement opportunities, and provide effective mentoring and supervision.

  • Citizenship and Service: Demonstrate UQ values through collaboration, committee participation, partnership development, and active contribution to School, University and community priorities.

This is a research focused position. Further information can be found by viewing UQ’s Criteria for Academic Performance.

About You

  • Completion of a PhD in a relevant discipline, such as speech pathology, audiology or a related field.
  • Demonstrated research expertise in communication disability, hearing health, health services research, implementation science, co-design, and person- and family-centred care, including experience in qualitative, quantitative, and/or mixed-methods research.  Experience conducting research across the lifespan is highly desirable.
  • Evidence of a growing research profile, including designing, coordinating, and delivering research projects, publications in high-quality peer-reviewed journals and presenting at conferences.
  • Strong collaboration, stakeholder engagement and partnership-building skills.
  • Experience contributing to competitive research funding applications and research project delivery.
  • Emerging track record of supervision and mentoring of Honours and/or Higher Degree by Research students.
  • Active contributions to internal and external services roles and activities.
