About This Opportunity
We are seeking a passionate and driven Research Fellow to lead qualitative research as part of the NHMRC-funded project, ‘ Commercial Determinants of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health in Remote Stores '. This role offers a unique opportunity to work closely with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities, regional stakeholders, and national collaborators, contributing to impactful health outcomes through high-quality research.
The position involves conducting and publishing independent and collaborative research, mentoring research students, and engaging with diverse stakeholders to translate research findings into actionable outcomes. The role will include travel to remote, regional, and interstate locations, this role combines academic excellence with real-world application in a cross-cultural and dynamic environment.

About You
Completion of a PhD in the public health.
A growing profile in research in the area of public health and determinants of health.
A developing reputation and track record of publications in reputed refereed journals and presenting at conferences.
Evidence of successfully seeking, obtaining and managing external research funding.
A growing record of supervision of Honours and Research Higher Degree students to successful completion.
Experience in meaningful internal service roles in conjunction with active contributions to external activities.
Interpersonal skills that enable effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders of varying levels of seniority, including community members and leaders from remote Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities.
Subject matter expertise in the area of commercial determinants of health, remote food retail and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health would be advantageous.
The successful candidate may be required to complete a number of pre- employment checks, including: right to work in Australia, criminal check, education check and mandatory immunisations.
