The Department of Education is seeking to appoint a full-time Research Facilitation Officer. This is a permanent role, and it is an exciting opportunity to be a part of a busy academic department with a large and diverse research funding portfolio, currently valued in excess of £13m.

As the Research Facilitation Officer you will work under the line management of the Research Facilitator to support the research activities of the Department including grant application administration, post-award administration, and administration of the Research Strategy Group committee and assisting with REF activities.

You will be working closely with the Research Facilitator and academic and research staff, when providing feedback on research bids. Initiative and strong interpersonal skills are required for the role, which involves making recommendations to senior academic staff, in addition to liaising closely with divisional and central University colleagues.

Strong mediation, negotiation, and problem-solving skills are essential to the role. You will have Intellectual ability equivalent to education to degree level along with drive, initiative and a strong attention to detail and accuracy.

You will have experience of reviewing research funding bids, financial management experience in a higher education setting, excellent IT skills and experience in using X5 costing tools and Oracle Financials, and the ability to work collaboratively with others and to maintain the confidence and trust of staff at all levels. You will be able to work independently and feel confident working in a fast-changing, dynamic professional and administrative environment.

This post is offered on full-time, permanent basis. Whilst this is a full-time post, we welcome applications from candidates who wish to work part- time (minimum 30 hours per week/0.8 FTE).
