Job description
Research Award Specialist
Grade 8 (£45,585 - £54,395)
Full time, Permanent
Abertay is a modern university with a global outlook, rooted in its local and national communities. We have made our mark with high quality, well-directed teaching and research, and a stimulating and enriching experience for our students.
The Research, Innovation and Enterprise Support Office (RIES)
The new RIES Office brings together staff, support and management functions from across the University, to provide an integrated, efficient, and coherent support and management service for the funding submission and award lifecycle. The RIES Office team will provide expert advice, guidance and operational support for the entire university Research and Knowledge Exchange portfolio. The new RIES Office is co-located with the Graduate School team, who provide support and professional development opportunities to our vibrant postgraduate and researcher community. Together the RIES and Graduate School teams are central to the continued development of our excellent research culture and environment, supporting delivery of the University's Research and Knowledge Exchange Strategy and achievement of its RKE ambitions.
Reporting to the Dean of Research and the Graduate School, you will join a small professional team and help drive the development of a newly formed RIES Office. The Research Award Specialist's primary responsibility is to business partner with our key internal and external stakeholders providing expert advice and guidance across all post-award tasks and activities for research awards within a designated, non-fixed portfolio.
The role requires a dynamic and flexible team player, with previous professional experience as a research award specialist or a related role. You should be qualified to at least AAT level 4, although AAT Finalists or exceptional candidates qualified by experience and with significant sector experience will also be considered. You should have a full understanding of relevant accounting and costing concepts and financial reporting standards, and experience of business partnering with key internal and external stakeholders. We are seeking a well-organised, self-motivated individual with a tenacious commitment to the principles and practice of high-quality customer service, and the ability to contribute to the development and improvement of systems and procedures.
