The Association for Dementia Studies (ADS) is a Centre for Excellence in Dementia Care Research with a global reputation, based at the University of Worcester. The ADS team has developed evidence-based, practical, and person- centred ways of working with people living with dementia and their families, across the NHS England ‘Well Pathway for Dementia'. We do this through impactful, high-quality research, evidence-based education, and knowledge exchange.
We are currently advertising a fantastic opportunity for a dynamic and person- centred individual to join our team of internal and external collaborators working on our project Food Glorious Food: A mixed methods evaluation of food-related practices in post-diagnostic community-based group support for people affected by dementia. The project is funded by NIHR and is due to commence on 1st April 2024 and finishes in November 2025.
The proposed research aims to identify and explore the impact of food-related practices within community based group support across diverse populations and circumstances. The research will establish how practices can be a vehicle for or barrier to engagement, inclusion, and wellbeing for people living with dementia and family carers. It will identify factors that impact upon successful practice and develop guidance for decision-making regarding food- related practice and facilitation within different community group settings.
