Fixed-term: The funds for this post are available for 12 months in the first instance.

Available: from July 2024 for 12 months.

A part time Postdoctoral Research Associate position is available in the group of Prof David Spring for a synthetic chemist with research experience in peptide synthesis and antibody bioconjugation.

A new opportunity for a successful applicant will undertake research in novel chemical transformations applied to peptides and antibodies. The overall aims of the project will be to generate peptides and investigate their use in a therapeutic context. Examples of results from related work can be found at https: // www-spring.ch.cam.ac.uk/publications/publications.shtml.

You will have, or be about to obtain, a PhD in organic chemistry and/or chemical biology. You will ideally have expertise in peptide synthesis (including solid phase synthesis) and an interest in drug discovery. You will have carried out multi-step organic syntheses and characterised molecules by NMR spectroscopy and mass spectrometry. Alongside this experience, you will be inspired by the biological activity of the molecules they synthesise. You will have an enthusiasm to extend the boundaries of your knowledge and to explore interactions with unfamiliar disciplines. You will have excellent communication and organisational skills, and will be capable of working under your own initiative, and will be enthusiastic to interact and share their expertise with other members of the research group.

The position is for 15 hours per week over two days.

Click the 'Apply' button below to register an account with our recruitment system (if you have not already) and apply online.

Appointment at the Research Associate level is dependent on the award of a PhD. Those who have submitted but not yet received their PhD will be appointed at the Research Assistant level, which will be amended to Research Associate once the award of the PhD has been confirmed.

Please ensure that you upload your Curriculum Vitae (CV), a covering letter and publications list in the upload section of the online application. If you upload any additional documents that have not been requested, we will not be able to consider these as part of your application.
