Research Associate (Fixed Term)

The Milner Therapeutics Institute (MTI) is a purpose-built research institute at the University of Cambridge. The overarching vision of the MTI is to convert pioneering science into therapies. The newly established Functional Genomics Screening Laboratory (FGSL) at the MTI applies arrayed CRISPR screening to shed light into the mechanisms underlying tissue homeostasis and disease biology. Formed as a joint venture between Medical Research Council, AstraZeneca and the University of Cambridge, this new laboratory aligns with the MTI's approach of breaking the mould in terms of how academia and industry interact.

We are recruiting up to five scientists with an interest in functional genomics to join the FGSL screening team. You will be applying your biological expertise in complex cell models to design and implement large scale arrayed phenotypic screens for target discovery in various disease areas with an unmet need for therapies. This is a collaborative role where you will work with scientists from MTI, AstraZeneca and academics and small/medium enterprises from across the UK. As a key member of this new team, you will have the opportunity to provide significant input in determining the direction of the lab.

The MTI is a buoyant, vibrant and fast-paced environment and is ideal for those who thrive in the face of change. This role would suit highly motivated individuals with desire to acquire skills in new areas such as multi-modality screens, laboratory automation and bioinformatic analysis. You will leverage on your existing knowledge and expertise in a particular biological field and have the opportunity to contribute to a wide range of disease areas via implementing high-throughput CRISPR screening. We welcome applications from recent PhD graduates that are enthusiastic to work as part of a dynamic team at the interface between academia and industry. We offer an engaging and supportive environment that fosters professional growth and career development.

This advert will be a rolling call from 3rd June, we welcome your application as soon as possible and will contact applicants on a rolling basis.
