Applications are invited for a Research Associate to work in the group of Prof Maria Grazia Spillantini to investigate mechanisms of alpha-synuclein pathology spreading in a new transgenic mouse model with alpha-synuclein expression in the gut.
Funding is available for 12 months in the first instance. The appointee will work on a Parkinson's UK funded grant.
The postdoctor will work in the group of Maria Grazia Spillantini using new transgenic mice to determine how alpha-synuclein spreads from the gut to the brain. Experience in characterization and study of transgenic mice is required; familiarity with Parkinson's disease mouse models, alpha-synuclein and its aggregation, mouse anatomy, primary neuronal culture, neuronal toxicity and immunohistochemistry are desirable. Experience in: Immunohistochemistry, biochemical techniques and mouse anatomy Experience and knowledge in one or more of the following topics is desirable: Parkinson's disease mouse models, primary cell culture, Immunohistochemistry, Inflammation
The position is full time and fixed term for 12 months. The applicant will be based at the Clifford Allbutt Building in the Department of Clinical Neurosciences at the University of Cambridge.
