Research Associate (Fixed Term)

A new opportunity has arisen for a post-doctoral research associate within the Genomic Disorders and Cognitive Development programme at MRC CBU, led by Dr Kate Baker. Our multi-disciplinary programme focuses on rare genetic conditions and mental health. This innovative role will build bridges between rare conditions research, mental health epidemiology and healthcare data science, within a new network involving family support organisations, clinicians and multiple research disciplines.

The post-holder will bring experience of analysing UK routine healthcare and linked datasets, and advanced statistical methods for epidemiological research. They will carry out pilot investigations across multiple datasets, to establish whether routine data is informative for mapping risk and resilience within this population. The initial focus condition will be Smith Magenis Syndrome, with a view to expansion across multiple rare conditions.

Applicants should be motivated to carry out innovative data science to benefit patients with rare conditions and their families. The post-holder will receive training and mentorship, to ensure that this position is an effective stepping-stone on a unique career pathway.

Start date for the post is April 2024 (negotiable). Informal enquiries are welcome. Please contact Kate Baker, by email: [email protected]. Information on the unit and programme can be found at https:// www. mrc- cbu.cam.ac.uk/
