Position Summary

The Flint Registry, under the direction of Drs. Mona Hanna-Attisha and Nicole Jones, invites applications for the position of Postdoctoral Research Associate (Fixed-Term) for one year, with potential reappointment through July 31, 2025. A Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC)-designated public health authority, the Flint Registry's (https: // www. flintregistry.org/) goal is to track the long-term health of people who were impacted by the Flint Water Crisis and to connect them to resources and programs that serve to minimize the effects of lead on their health while promoting wellness and recovery. This position will be based in Flint, Michigan.

The Postdoctoral Research Associate will be integrally involved in the evaluation and research of the Flint Registry. Exact roles on the research project will depend on Postdoctoral Research Associate's interests and skills, and stage of the research. It is anticipated that the postdoctoral fellow would support and lead design, analysis, dissemination of results of new analyses that support evaluation of the Flint Registry, and sub-studies that investigate research questions that address both the interests of the candidate and the Flint community.

The candidate will be ready to apply research skills using a creative, data- driven, and team-oriented approach.

Responsibilities may include:

  • Development of manuscripts for peer review publications;
  • Development and submission of abstracts and presentation of research at national conferences;
  • This position involves a wide range of tasks related to management and analysis of quantitative data. A significant effort in this position will be devoted to secondary analysis of publicly available survey data.
  • Analysis and integration of multiple data sources with varying degree of complexity.
  • Development of sub-studies that support Flint Registry and PPHI missions.
  • Collection and assessment of lead and other related data from various sources
  • Communication of research findings to public and professional audiences through oral presentations and technical reports.

    Required Degree

    Doctorate -Public Health or related field

    Minimum Requirements
  • PhD in public health, epidemiology, health sciences or related discipline
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Desired Qualifications
  • Preference will be given to candidates with demonstrated experience with lead-in-water research.
  • Strong quantitative, methodologic, and statistical analysis skills.
  • Training and/or research experience in public health, epidemiology, health disparities, and/or health service research is highly desirable.
  • Track record of community-oriented, collaborative work and research, and ability to work effectively with diverse, interdisciplinary teams.
