Position Summary

The Department of Large Animal Clinical Sciences is seeking a highly qualified and motivated individual to conduct research at the College of Veterinary Medicine at Michigan State University in the Contreras AdipoLab.

The candidate will have the opportunity to work within a multidisciplinary group on different projects related to adipose tissue biology in the context of metabolic and chronic diseases using dairy cows, rats, and mice as animal models.

The candidate should have a Ph.D. in physiology, immunology, biology, or related field with strong and demonstrated background in adipose tissue biology, molecular biology and cell culture. Hands-on research experience in a broad range of techniques, including advanced genomic applications, multi- color flow cytometry, cell sorting, primary cell isolation, in vivo/ex vivo cellular/tissue assays focusing on adipocyte/macrophages and experience with dairy cattle and rodents as animal models is expected. The position also requires the ability to lead projects, and work co-operatively with team members. Ideal candidates will have excellent organizational, time management, and multitasking skills. Other duties may include supervision of other laboratory members, and participation in the writing of grants and manuscripts. This group also has active collaborations with other research groups within Michigan State University and around the world.
