Position Summary

This position provides a unique opportunity to engage in collaborative research at an internationally renowned research institution. The position will facilitate scientific and scholarly advancement through the participation in a federally funded project, in combination with the pursuit of related independent research questions. In the process, the candidate will work with undergraduate and graduate students and other academic, clinical and technical staff. The goal of this project is to improve blood pressure and vascular health in older adults with hypertension through an innovative exercise intervention. We seek to understand circadian rhythms in well-known markers of cardiovascular health, and align exercise interventions with these rhythms.

The candidate will contribute to the day-to-day research and laboratory activities in order to meet research goals, including:

  • Recruiting, screening, enrolling and monitoring of study participants, and scheduling of study visits and research personnel
  • Leading study visits including preparing equipment and collecting cardiovascular measurements.

  • Data analysis.

  • Overseeing data management including transferring of data between collection sites and tracking data entry and analysis.
  • Compiling and summarizing results and participating in preparing presentations, reports, and manuscripts for publication.
  • Administrative tasks including Institutional Review Board and Clinical Trials submissions, maintaining research records and regulatory documents, and participant remuneration.
  • Overseeing laboratory needs and ordering materials, supplies and equipment.
  • Supervision of student employees and support staff and mentorship of undergraduate and graduate students.

    Required Degree

    Doctorate -related science field.

    Minimum Requirements
  • Ph.D. in related science field.
  • Project related experience, including recruiting study participants and collecting, managing and analyzing data.
  • Scientific writing experience.
  • Fluent in Microsoft Office suite.
  • Experience in communication.
  • Must be available weekday mornings and late afternoon/evening for data collection.
  • Must have access to reliable transportation.
  • Desired Qualifications
  • Research and/or technical skills with cardiovascular measurements (e.g., clinic blood pressure, ambulatory blood pressure monitoring, vascular ultrasound assessments).
  • Fitness and/or exercise physiology certifications.
  • CPR and First Aid certification.
  • Experience working with older adults.
