Position Summary

Position Summary:

The Ganz Laboratory (www. ganzlab.org) at Michigan State University is seeking a highly motivated, outstanding postdoctoral researcher to join an exciting research team focused on understanding nervous system development and disease using zebrafish as research model. The research program of the Ganz Lab aims to illuminate the genetic control and core principles of enteric nervous system (ENS) neuronal and glial development during normal development, in the context of gut disorders, and regeneration. Research projects in the Ganz Lab, supported by NIH and NSF CAREER funding, include:

  • establishing the gene regulatory programs of enteric neuron and glial differentiation.
  • identifying the cellular and genetic mechanisms of gastrointestinal symptoms in neurodevelopmental disorders
  • identifying the cellular and molecular mechanisms of regeneration in the enteric nervous system.
  • The successful candidates will be expected to conduct experiments, collect, and analyze data, give research presentations, write scholarly papers, provide progress reports, and mentor graduate and undergraduate students in the lab. There will also be opportunities to participate in professional development programs and to write and submit grants and career development award.

The position is initially for 12 months with the possibility to extend further based on funding and performance. Salary will be commensurate with current NIH stipend levels and includes excellent benefits (health, dental, retirement). Review of applications will begin immediately and continue until the position is filled.
