About this Position
About the Project“Queer Parenting in the Time of Parental Rights” is a project that examines the impacts of the ‘parental right movement'— including anti-2SLGBTQIA+ Alberta legislation— on queer families.
About the RoleThe research assistant will begin on or around February 20th, and will be supervised by Corinne L. Mason (they/them), Professor of Women's and Gender Studies, Department of Humanities, Faculty of Arts.
Hours: 5 hours per week for 16 weeks
ResponsibilitiesLiterature Review 1. Use MRU's library to collect literature 2. Use citation tool to organize literature (e.g., Zotero) 3. Summarize articles and chapters
Focus Groups 1. Help with participant communication 2. Organization of snacks, honoraria, and parking
Transcription 1. Check transcription for accuracy and de-identify transcripts
Other 1. Depending on the candidate' prior experience, duties may also include some coding, analysis, and co-presentation of findings
Qualifications● MRU undergraduate student minoring in Women's and Gender Studies, or related field ● Preference for a candidate who has completed TCPS-2 CORE Ethics Training ● Preference for a candidate with prior work experience as a research assistant
Salary: $25 per hour
