About the role
The lab of Prof Elena Seiradake require a Research Assistant to provide research and administrative support to ensure the smooth running of the laboratories. This post will be responsible for supporting specific research projects, managing the scientific process and maintaining quality control, as well as processing samples and monitoring results. Maintenance of a database is expected in order to run reports and interpret results and writing up experimental results to contribute to publications. Contributing to maintaining equipment, cleanliness and upkeep of the lab space is also expected.
This full-time fixed-term post is funded by the Wellcome Trust for up to 12 months in the first instance.
The actual starting salary offered will be based on qualifications and relevant skills acquired and will also be determined by the funding available.

About you
You will have completed, or be close to completing a Master's degree in science and have experience of using fluorescence microscopes. You will have strong expertise in cell biology assays using FACS, immunofluorescence sample preparation and confocal microscopy. Strong skills in large scale protein expression techniques are essential together with experience in single particle cryo-electron microscopy sample preparation and data processing. Experience using nanodisc technology and membrane protein purification is also expected. Expertise in sample labelling for NMR and producing and studying lectins would be advantageous but is not essential.
