Research Assistant

Nuffield Department of Primary Care Health Sciences, Radcliffe Observatory Quarter, Woodstock Road, Oxford

Applications are invited for a Quantitative Research Assistant to work within the Medical Statistics team under Rafael Perera and Patrick Fahr on a climate change and health research programme.

The selected candidate will be offering comprehensive research support across various concurrent research initiatives. Key responsibilities encompass conducting thorough reviews of existing literature, performing quantitative analysis on gathered data, and offering writing assistance for the development of publications intended for submission to peer-reviewed journals. The candidate will primarily collaborate with and operate under the guidance of the respective project manager, providing research support and subject- specific advice on climate change action plans and their structure where appropriate.

We anticipate that the successful applicant will possess a robust foundation in quantitative methodologies, holding an undergraduate degree in a quantitative discipline such as mathematics, statistics, or economics. Furthermore, we seek an individual with the capability to independently manage their research and administrative responsibilities, coupled with excellent communication skills. This includes the ability to craft publishable written content, presenting data at conferences, and adeptly represent the research group in meetings. Ideally, the candidate is inclined towards pursuing a doctorate, potentially through a planned master's program or a pre-doctoral fellowship, specialising in the area of statistics and/or health economics.

You will be based in the Medical Statistics Team, Nuffield Department of Primary Care Health Sciences, Radcliffe Primary Care Building, Woodstock Road, Oxford, OX2 6GG as your normal place of work.

The position is part-time (40%) and funded until 30 September 2024 in the first instance.
