The Stanley Ho Big Data Decision Analytics (BDDA) Research Centre was established in May 2013. We encourage multidisciplinary research and collaboration across different academic departments. Our six areas of focus are Healthcare and Genomics, Earth System Sciences, Social Networks, Economics and Finances, Logistics and Supply Chain Management and Digital Learning. The Centre is now seeking an outstanding candidate and inviting applications for Research Assistant Professorship.
Applicants should (i) possess a PhD degree in Computer Science or related areas, preferably in Artificial Intelligence (AI), Information Engineering, Cognitive Science, or Data Science; (ii) ideally should have at least two years of postdoctoral experience; (iii) be able to demonstrate effective and innovative classroom teaching; (iv) be highly proficient in written and spoken English; and (v) be dedicated to excellence in teaching and scholarly research.
The appointee will contribute to the development of pedagogical research capacity of the Centre. Duties include (a) conducting pedagogical research for an AI education project; (b) heading a team of 5-6 to conduct research in programmatic research areas of the Centre and develop contents for AI learning and teaching, which covers a wide spectrum of areas, including Computer Vision, Big Data, Natural Language Processing etc.; (c) designing interactive AI learning tools and developing experiments; (d) leading the collection of learning analytics by conducting reflective analysis on quantitative and qualitative data; (e) providing training support to local secondary school teachers by designing and implementing enrichment workshops; and (f) publishing high-quality scholarly research. The appointee is also encouraged to apply for external funding to support research endeavours.
The appointment will be made on contract basis until 31 July 2026, renewable subject to performance, funding availability and mutual agreement. The salary will be highly competitive and commensurate with qualifications and experience.
