Research Assistant (Part-time, Fixed term)

Fixed-term: The funds for this post are available for 12 months in the first instance.

Applications are invited for a 12-month Research Assistant position on a project focusing on economics, finance, and real estate. Specifically, the Research Assistant will work on generating materials pertaining to the dissemination to professional and lay audiences of academic research in mortgage default, mortgage lending, and their effects on and interactions with discrimination and economic inequality.

Applications from candidates interested in working on this topic, and with backgrounds in relevant social scientific disciplines, strong writing skills, prior experience conducting literature reviews and database research, and familiarity with quantitative or qualitative research methods (or both), are welcome. Experience with mortgages and real estate finance is not necessary; given the role's emphasis on production of dissemination materials, the candidate's English language proficiency, communication skills, and ability to work under tight deadline are more pertinent.

This post will be fully remote.

The Research Assistant will carry out research under the direction of a principal investigator, including data collection, analysis, and interpretation.

Candidates for the post of Research Assistant should be educated to first degree level; sufficient breadth or depth of knowledge in the discipline and of research methods and techniques to work within own area. The role holder will have limited or no previous research experience or the scope of the role will require limited independent judgement and creativity.
