BackgroundThis post is for a Research Assistant, who will be based in the school of health and psychological sciences, working with Dr Alison Binns and Professor David Crabb. The post holder will work as part of the renowned Crabb Lab. The Lab has an active programme of meetings with emphasis on early stage researchers, providing an interdisciplinary peer-to-peer training environment. www. youtube.com/watch?v=JygBka24iew
The post holder will conduct research to support a project, funded by the Macular Society, evaluating the impact of structural features of age-related macular degeneration on the rate of dark adaptation. This novel project will use a scotopic fundus controlled microperimeter to measure the rates of dark adaptation in people with intermediate AMD at retinal locations overlying structural features of AMD.
ResponsibilitiesThe post holder will support all research activity associated with the study, with a particular focus on participant recruitment, high quality data collection, data analysis and the writing of high-quality research publications.
Person SpecificationThe successful candidate will be a GOC registered optometrist, or have a similar clinical background, with an interest in Medical Retina. They will preferably have an established expertise and proven portfolio of research, including the ability to collect high quality data, analyse complex datasets, and to publish in high quality journals.
