City St George's, University of London is the University of business, practice and the professions and brings together the expertise and excellence of City, University of London and St George's, University of London into one institution. The combined university is now one of the largest higher education destinations for London students, combining a breadth of disciplines across health, business, policy, law, creativity, communications, science and technology. Our students are at the heart of everything that we do, and we are committed to supporting them to pursue their career and personal ambitions.
Our research is engaged, at the frontier of practice and has a positive impact on the world around us.
Bayes Business School (formerly Cass) is among the small group of business schools with an established reputation for excellence in both business research and education. Bayes holds the “triple-crown” accreditation from the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB), the Association of MBAs (AMBA) and the European Quality Improvement System (EQUIS). The school and its programmes are consistently ranked among the best in the world.
Bayes is not complacent about its achievements. On the contrary, we will be seeking to significantly develop our research and education and, critically, our engagement with practice. We are conscious that business schools are experiencing disruption in how research is undertaken and disseminated, how education is delivered and what is expected by business and society from a business school.
BackgroundThe person will be working under the supervision of DR. Navid Izady on an HEIF-funded Knowledge and Impact project entitled “TRANSFORM: A Tool for reconfiguration of services focused on Group hospital models”. The aim of this potentially impactful project is to contribute to planning for service reconfiguration of two hospital trusts which have recently approved to establish a Group Model. The role will help in identifying and dimensioning the services that can be delivered collaboratively using top-level optimization and simulation models.
ResponsibilitiesAs a research assistant, you will be responsible for developing a digital service reconfiguration tool. This would require coding optimization/simulation models in Python, developing a user interface for the models, feeding data and generating results. You will also help the PI in writing case studies/papers and disseminating the project outcomes.
Person SpecificationAn MSc in Operations Research, Management Science, Business Analytics, Statistics or a similar degree is required (studying for a PhD degree is desirable). Experience in developing models in Python or a similar programming language is also required.
