Research Assistant in Lactation Endocrinology

Nuffield Department of Women's & Reproductive Health, Level 3, Women's Centre, John Radcliffe Hospital, Oxford, OX3 9DU

The Nuffield Department of Women's & Reproductive Health (NDWRH) has an exciting opportunity for a research assistant in the Larsson-Rosenquist Foundation Oxford Centre for the Endocrinology of Human Lactation (LRF OCEHL).

LRF OCEHL comprises a team of doctors, scientists and maternity support workers who undertake ambitious basic science and clinical research to help women with lactation insufficiency. The team are currently investigating the biological processes and hormonal mechanisms initiating lactation after childbirth, with the goal of developing biomarkers for lactation adequacy.

The successful applicant will report to Prof Fadil Hannan, the Director of LRF OCEHL, and will be responsible for processing and analysing clinical samples obtained from breastfeeding women. They will also work on mammary cell studies characterising the molecular basis of hormone action.

We are looking to appoint an enthusiastic and motivated individual with a first degree in a relevant biological subject, a good understanding of maternal health, physiology and disease, and experience using laboratory techniques such as western blotting and nanoparticle tracking analysis.

The post is offered on a full-time basis and is fixed-term for 12 months in the first instance.

Applications for flexible working arrangements are welcomed and will be considered in line with business needs.

You will be required to upload a CV and Supporting Statement as part of your online application. Here you should list each of the criteria in turn, and explain briefly how your skills and experience match these requirements. The closing date for applications is 12.00 noon on Monday 19th February 2024. Interviews will take place on or around Wednesday 6th March 2024.
