Research Assistant in Experimental Cold Atom (Fixed Term)

A position exists for Research Assistant in experimental cold atom research.

We are looking for a Research Assistant to work on an hybrid optical lattice/tweezer project led by Prof Ulrich Schneider at the University of Cambridge. The successful candidate will be based in the Many-Body Quantum Dynamics group (www. manybody.phy.cam.ac.uk) in the Department of Physics. The project will focus on building a new high-optical-resolution cold-atom setup. The position will start in March 2023.

Candidates will have completed a Masters-level degree or equivalent in Physics or a cognate subject. Experience in experimental work with ultracold atoms is essential and prior work with optical lattices or optical tweezers is highly desirable. Candidates must provide the names and contact details of two referees who are familiar with their work/studies in the relevant field.

Candidates will need to meet all prerequisites for admission to the PhD programme in the Department of Physics in Easter term 2024 (please refer to: https: // www. phy.cam.ac.uk/admissions/postgraduate/degreesoffered/phdinphysics).

Fixed-term: The funds for this post are available for 42 months in the first instance.

The post holder will be located at the Department of Physics Cavendish Laboratory JJ Thomson Avenue Cambridge CB3 0HE, UK.

Salary Ranges: Research Assistant £28,929 to £33,348.
