Research Assistant I/II in the Department of Real Estate and Construction (Ref.: 526812)

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Process Geospatial datasets, such as nighttime lights, terrain ruggedness, etc. to identify urban built-up areas and environments, and convert them to observational data.
  • Process large survey datasets.
  • Produce descriptive statistics from observational and survey datasets using graphic presentation, such as bar charts, line diagrams, scatterplots, summary tables, etc.
  • Requirements

  • Master's degree / Bachelor's degree with at least 2 years of experience; preferably in Urban Studies, Urban Planning, Urban Economics, Real Estate, Finance, or Geography.
  • Expertise in ArcGIS and/or QGIS.
  • Working knowledge of statistical tools and econometric models.
  • Experience in statistical software like Stata or R.
  • Excellent command of written and spoken English.
  • Those with higher qualifications and/or more experiences may be considered for appointment as Research Assistant I.
  • Applicants with the following requirements are preferred

  • Working knowledge of Convolutional Neural Nets and Generative models.
  • Basic understanding of principles in economic theory, such as demand- supply mechanisms and pricing in markets, analysis of market interventions, etc.
  • Experience in working with survey datasets.

    The appointment will commence as soon as possible on a 1-year temporary basis, with the possibility of renewal subject to satisfactory performance and funding availability.
