  • Role Description

We are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic person to fill the novel role of Research Active Business Development and Delivery Manager, in the area of safe robotics, autonomous systems and artificial intelligence. This hybrid role is similar to a consultancy-led development role: we are seeking someone with strong interpersonal skills and good business sense, coupled with technical research capability in one of systems safety, safety science, high integrity software systems, machine learning / AI, or relevant technologies.

As a key appointment in the prestigious and newly-established Centre for Assuring Autonomy in the Department for Computer Science, you will join a high-performing, friendly, and intellectually curious team, and will lead the development and delivery of collaborative research projects to achieve impact. You will be tasked with developing and securing funded research and consultancy projects with new and existing industrial partners and clients, delivering against business, innovation and income targets alongside the senior management team. You will be based in the purpose-built Institute for Safe Autonomy, and will have the freedom to assemble expert teams where you will contribute your specialism, and deliver high quality project outputs to satisfy a variety of stakeholders.

In this role, you will have access to an experienced support team and the opportunity to work with colleagues to publish relevant research findings, to allow your research track record to develop. You will also work with colleagues to facilitate achieving impact from the Centre's research and collaborations.

The role is fixed term for 36 months.
