At Curtin we have a range of services, programs and resources that provide our
students with medical assistance, but also help them enhance their mental and
physical wellbeing.
In our Medical Centre we provide comprehensive general practice patient care
which includes, management of all health problems including mental health,
nutritional advice, nursing care and help with accidents and sudden illness on
campus.
We have a rare opportunity for a Registered Nurse to join the team and provide
medical services to support the operation of the Centre and our general
practitioners.
Your new role
Carry out/assists with medical triage, treatment and support services as
required under supervision of General Practitioners
Respond to medical emergencies brought in by Curtin Safer Communities
Assists in Covid-19 vaccine clinics
Engage in the development of policy related to the delivery and quality
assurance of health services, ensuring best practice is sought, developed
and implemented
Engage in teaching and supervision of nursing students on clinical
placement

Essential Criteria:
Unrestricted registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of
Australia
Demonstrated relevant clinical and problem solving skills
Current certification in Senior First Aid and CPR accreditation by a
recognised authority
Current certification in immunisation competency
Completed Covid-19 vaccination training (certificate to be provided)
Demonstrated ability to communicate orally and in writing in a wide
variety of medical settings and with cultural sensitivity
Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team
Demonstrated competence with use of electronic medical records, word
processor and spreadsheets
Proven ability to use diagnostic equipment including ECG, spirometer, and
audiometer10.
Experience working in a general practice setting (desirable)
Work Requirements
Prior to appointment, the recommended applicant/s will need to have a
current criminal record check in accordance with the University's National
Police Certificate Assessment Procedures
A valid Working with Children check
Valid Immunisation and up to date History
Ability to cover sick and annual leave
Ability to be flexible with shifts and occasionally work outside normal
business hours
