Job Purpose

You will be a dedicated and empathetic person who will play a key role in the recruitment of families to the “Partnership for Change” trial working with Professor Helen Minnis.

Partnership for Change is a randomised controlled trial, co-produced with parent collaborators with lived experience, that aims to develop, in collaboration with the NSPCC an infant and parent mental health support for families with children with family support services.

This role is tailored for individuals who have lived experience of using family support services and can bring valuable insights and perspectives to the process of involving struggling families in research. The post-holder will work with the recruitment team and will be the first point of contact for participants and stakeholders providing information on the trial and gaining informed consent from participants. They will also undertake, with training and support, research assessments for participants. The post-holder will also play a key role in supporting families to stay involved in the research.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

1. Be a first point of contact under the supervision of the Recruitment Coordinator, Recruitment Manager and Lived Experience Lead for potential participants of the trial.

2. Undertake research assessments for participants following supervision and training by the research team.

3. Perform administrative tasks related to the documenting recruitment progress where appropriate including maintaining records and databases, contributing to progress reports and papers as appropriate and ensuring compliance with data protection guidelines.

4. Engage and effectively communicate with relevant stakeholders including our partners the NSPCC regarding participating families' involvement in the trial including attendance and contribution at meetings related to family recruitment and retention.

5. Collaborate in internal and external team/group meetings/seminars/workshops and Institute research group activities to enhance the wider knowledge, outputs and culture of the Partnership for Change Trial and project aims.

6. Adhere to safeguarding procedures including raising concerns where appropriate using agreed channels of reporting.

7. Undertake any other duties of equivalent standing as assigned by the Chief Investigator and/or Project Manager.

8. Engage in supervision, training and any reasonable professional development activities as appropriate.

Knowledge, Qualifications, Skills and Experience

Knowledge/Qualifications

Essential:

A1. Scottish Credit and Qualification Framework Level 7 Advanced Higher / Scottish Vocational Qualification Level 3, Higher National Certificate or equivalent, and experience of personal development in a similar role.

A2. Ability to demonstrate the competencies required to undertake the duties associated with this level of post having acquired the necessary knowledge and skills in a similar role and/or through expertise by experience and evidence of personal development in previous roles.

Skills

Essential

C1. Strong written, verbal communication, and interpersonal skills, including tact, diplomacy, discretion, and assertiveness.

C2. Ability to plan, organise and prioritise effectively, respond to changes in demands and/or pressures, delivering work to standard and within deadlines.

C3. High level of initiative and decision-making ability.

C4. Strong attention to detail and accuracy

Experience

Essential

E1. Lived experience of using family support services.

E2. Relevant experience working or volunteering in an organisation that supports families or similar service.

Desirable

F1. Experience working in a research or academic environment.

Terms and Conditions

Salary will be Grade 5, £26,038 - £30,505 per annum pro rata.

This post is part-time (17.5 hours per week or less, hours will be agreed with the successful candidates), and open ended with funding available for up to 31 March 2027 in the first instance.
