Background of the recruitment and description of the project Background of the recruitment and description of the project National Institute for Materials Science (NIMS) invites applications from researchers in a broad range of materials science disciplines. Applicants may specialize in any area of materials science, including materials engineering, solid state physics, materials chemistry, and materials data science, as long as the research is conducted with a view to materials applications. For reference, the research areas that NIMS wishes to strengthen in the future are (1) hydrogen-related materials, (2) battery materials, (3) quantum materials, (4) semiconducting materials, (5) artificial intelligence materials, (6) metal and inorganic materials, (7) organic materials, (8) biomaterials, (9) data-driven materials development, and (10) advanced materials analysis technology. We also welcome applications from overseas and those with industrial R&D experience.

Start-up funds up to 10 million yen depending on the research plan at the time of arrival is available.
