Quality Assurance Officer

Academic Services is within the Directorate of Student and Academic Services is responsible for a range of activities relating to academic administration and governance. The team manages a range of student processes, including registration, timetabling, assessment, academic appeals, academic progression and awards. Academic Services supports Academic Quality and Standards Committee, the Academic Leadership Group as well as School Academic Committees and Assessment Boards and handles student discipline and complaints for the University.

The University now seeks to appoint a Quality Assurance Officer.

Reporting to the Quality Assurance Manager , you will work with Academic Schools and other University Directorates to provide high-level administrative support to executive officers and senior managers on quality assurance matters. You will have responsibility for ensuring that quality assurance processes are compliant with University and statutory regulatory framework requirements by supporting programme and partnership approval and management processes. In addition, you will be responsible for supporting the student complaints, appeals and disciplinary processes, including interviewing students and staff. You will also provide support for University committees, boards/panels and task groups. You will support other staff within Academic Services to enable both knowledge and relationships to be developed; be expected to work collaboratively with other staff to ensure conducive team working; develop knowledge in complaint handling, academic appeals and student disciplinary systems and procedures; and support the work of Academic Services across all administrative areas as required.

The role requires a non-judgemental approach to complaint handling and disciplinary investigations. You will be able to deliver high-quality administrative support for a variety of activities, meeting specific deadlines with accurate note taking and record keeping.
