NDM Finance Shared Service Centre, located within the Centre for Human Genetics, Old Road Campus, Roosevelt Drive, OX3 7BN

We are seeking to appoint a highly motivated Purchasing Assistant to join the NDM Finance Shared Service Centre team at Nuffield Department of Medicine (NDM) which comprises a number of Units within the UK and Overseas.

NDM Finance Shared Service provides processing transactional finance including purchasing, procurement, requisitions and invoicing, for the 15 units within NDM. The team comprises of 14 members of staff, and you will be working alongside a team of 4 and reporting directly to the Purchase Order Supervisor. You will deliver an excellent level of service to customers whilst ensuring financial policy and controls are adhered to.You will support the team and foster a “right first time” culture looking to improve efficiency and striving for continuous improvement.

In this role, you will be responsible for using Oracle to process purchase requisitions through to purchase orders for external suppliers, validating and ensuring the requisition matches the contractual commitment and the goods being receipted. You will ensure that tax has correctly run in Oracle at the processing stage, check the outcome of VAT and resolve any errors with the University's Central VAT team.

Additionally, you will provide support to people ordering or ‘shoppers' on the procurement system making sure the University's purchasing policies are followed in obtaining quotes, tender exemptions, justifications and evidence of price.

It is essential that you are educated to GCSE standard or equivalent, with evidence of numerical ability. You will be computer literate with experience of utilising MS Office, in particular Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook. You will be able to generate high volumes of accurate work, with attention to detail including excellent time management skills. Having understanding or experience of University's Oracle financial system is desirable.
