The System Office of Public Affairs is looking for a qualified student to assist the communications team with websites and social media content creation. The position includes website updates, design and management, SEO, digital accessibility, preparing photos and images for web and social applications, and assisting with office support, including event planning and communications. The position also provides the communications team with a student perspective on system communications and marketing. If you possess good computing, web design, coding, communication, and writing skills, and want to add meaningful experience to your resume working in a fast-paced, dynamic office then this is the position for you.
Duties:100%Specific duties may include assisting with the facilitation of communications, web content development, event planning, and public relations. The student employee will be asked to assist in creating written and audio/video material including photography, video, newsletters, flyers, event schedules, etc., proofread, edit, layout and modify documents. Create or assist with creation, development and maintenance of web and other electronic applications. Proofread and edit communications materials for grammar, clarity and style. Coordinate and/or assist with communication activities and events. Assist with implementing short- and long-term communication plans and operations related to the Office of Public Affairs' communication program. Maintain communications and related databases, including obtaining, entering, retrieving, and updating data.Essential
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities: This position requires basic computer skills, customer service, and the ability to work independently with intermittent supervision. Knowledge of computer operations such as word processing, spreadsheet, and database. Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills. Ability to write clearly and accurately, spell and punctuate properly. Ability to follow applicable policies, rules, regulations, and ethical practices. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with individuals and groups and to work successfully as a member of a team. Ability to maintain confidentiality. Knowledge of one or more of the following computer operations: graphic, photographic, and desktop publishing software. Ability to design print, multimedia, Web and collateral material.

Salary Information:
This is a part-time, Student Assistant position; pay is $14.10 per hour, based on education and experience.

Academic Internship Credit:
The intern is responsible for requesting credit for this internship through their department. Should their program require an affiliate agreement or internship contract, the Director of Public Relations will be the point of contact as the intern coordinator and will work with the intern to create a proposed plan that satisfies the requirements set out by the intern's department.
