DUTIES

The Project Manager will provide strategic direction and leadership for accreditation and program quality assurance in the Faculty of Science. This position will manage the accreditation processes, as well as provide project oversight for cyclical program reviews. This position will work directly with faculty, staff, institutional quality assurance, institutional effectiveness & planning to ensure that there is a project plan for each process and provides regular monitoring and reporting of project progress. The position is also responsible for leading initiatives with external accrediting bodies and for ensuring compliance with external professional designation accreditations.

The Faculty has responsibility for reviewing TRU programs over the next few years as a part of a new cyclical program review process which is in addition to program accreditation. The project manager is responsible for the tracking and management of these reviews.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead the accreditation process from the eligibility phase to the candidacy and accreditation and five-year review phase.
  • Responsible for authoring or reviewing major accreditation reports, including liaising with the appropriate accreditation bodies and internal faculty or staff committees.
  • Provide leadership in monitoring the Faculty strategic plan, including the development of outcomes and indicators, and, in co-operation with administration and faculty develop a regular reporting structure.
  • Coordinates all regular school external and internal surveys and questionnaires related to accreditation including mission fulfillment and program, finance, and salary reporting.
  • Serves as the school's primary liaison with institutional accreditation bodies and TRU internal organizations including Institutional Planning & Effectiveness and Academic Quality Assurance.
  • Provides strategic advice to the Dean and senior leadership in all accreditation matters including standards and reporting.
  • Provides project management and leadership for other special projects as assigned by the Dean of Science.

    QUALIFICATIONS

    REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS

  • Master's degree in a relevant discipline from an accredited University, plus project management certification or credentialing.
  • Experience in academic program accreditation (experience in Engineering accreditation is a major asset)
  • Demonstrated ability to design and implement quality assurance processes
  • Two years, full-time experience in a related field
  • Proficient in the creation and use of spreadsheets, templates and website- related information
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
  • Ability to work as a solution-oriented member of the Science team
  • Ability to travel, as required
  • Ability to deal courteously and tactfully with students, staff, and members of the general public
