About the role

We are looking for a pro-active and motivated individual to join the Faculty of Engineering & Design Student Centre assessments team as a Programmes Administrator.

You will play a key role in the team, working collaboratively with other professional services and academic colleagues, to ensure the smooth and efficient administration and operation of the taught degree programmes in the Faculty of Engineering and Design.

Working alongside one other administrator, you will jointly support the undergraduate programmes business for the Department of Mechanical Engineering. Your core responsibilities will focus on assessment related processes in support of the student lifecycle.

You will also provide day-to-day administrative support for teaching, assessment, and student data management activities. This will include maintaining student records, co-ordinating meetings, supporting Directors of Studies and responding to enquiries from students and academic colleagues.

About you

Our ideal candidate will:

  • Have previous experience of working in a busy administrative role, and preferably with experience of student administration
  • Be conscientious, considerate, and enjoy demonstrating a collaborative and flexible approach towards teamwork
  • Be confident managing a complex workload, maintaining attention to detail at all times
  • Have excellent, effective communication skills
  • Have strong digital skills, with sound proficiency in Microsoft 365 and Excel, and the confidence to learn the use of web-based management information systems
  • Experience in the use of university-specific software (SAMIS/SITS, Moodle and Business Objects) is desirable though not essential. Most important is a strong work ethic, an enthusiasm for developing a career in the Higher Education sector, and a willingness to become fully involved in the life of the Faculty of Engineering and Design.
