Department/Unit: Faculty of Law Closing Date: February 29, 2024

The Faculty of Law (CUHK LAW) is one of the most dynamic and successful law schools in Asia. Since admitting its first cohort of students in 2006, CUHK LAW has grown significantly in scale and reputation. In 2023-24, over 1,400 students are enrolled in CUHK LAW programmes (LLB, LLM, JD, PCLL and MPhil / PhD). We are proud of our outstanding achievements in teaching and research. The 2020 Research Assessment Exercise (RAE) conducted by the Hong Kong University Grants Committee recognized CUHK LAW's research strength by rating 83% of its research activity as “world leading” (4) or “internationally significant” (3). CUHK LAW has a strong international outlook with nearly twenty jurisdictions (by origin or training) represented by its academic staff. In 2018 CUHK LAW was the most international law school globally according to the Times Higher Education (THE) ranking exercise. Further information about CUHK LAW is available at https:// www.

CUHK LAW now invites applications for appointment(s) as Professor, Associate Professor or Assistant Professor. Applications are welcome from scholars in all areas of law. However, applicants with interests in the following areas are particularly encouraged to apply: Property Law and Land Law (incl. Conveyancing), Equity and Trusts, Criminal Law, Criminal and Civil Procedure, Constitutional Law, Hong Kong Legal System, Company and Commercial Law, and Insurance Law.

CUHK LAW has a record of high-quality teaching and research. Appointees are expected to contribute to research, teaching and service. Applicants for appointment as Professor must have a demonstrated record of leadership in all three domains. Applicants for appointment as Associate Professor and Assistant Professor should be able to show their potential for leadership in all three domains. We encourage applications from candidates whose background and experience will enhance the diversity of our faculty.

Appointment(s) will normally be made on contract basis for up to three years initially, which, subject to mutual agreement, may lead to longer-term appointment or substantiation later.

Applicants who would like to discuss the openings informally are invited to contact the Faculty Dean at [email protected].

Applicants should complete the online application form and upload a full curriculum vitae, a statement of teaching, a statement of research, a publication list and/or abstracts of selected published papers, copies of qualification documents, and contact details of three referees who have agreed to provide references.
