The Department of Microbiology, the Chinese University of Hong Kong is seeking full-time academic staff at the rank of Professor/ Associate Professor/ Assistant Professor (Clinical). The Department has a wide range of research facilities and with access to a large comprehensive teaching hospital. The establishment provides a good environment for basic as well as clinical research and facilitates collaboration with other disciplines. Applicants should have specialist qualification in medical microbiology such as fellowships of Hong Kong Academy of Medicine (Pathology), Hong Kong College of Pathologists, Royal College of Pathologists and Royal College of Pathologists of Australasia. Applicants with a doctoral research degree would be an advantage.
Duties include (a) teaching microbiology courses for undergraduate and postgraduate students; (b) conducting academic research; and (c) providing clinical and diagnostic services. The appointee(s) will work primarily at the Prince of Wales Hospital in Shatin.
Appointment(s) will normally be made on contract basis for up to three years initially commencing early 2025, which subject to mutual agreement, may lead to longer-term appointment or substantiation.
