Professor of Zoo and Wildlife Medicine

Position Summary

The successful candidate will provide clinical instruction to students participating in zoo and wildlife clerkships with an emphasis on building critical clinical and analytical skills. The ability to work with students and provide an inclusive and scholarly environment is essential. We are looking for someone who enjoys teaching and interacting with students for all disciplines in the profession. The right candidate will be committed to ensuring all students in the DVM curriculum are competent in zoo and wildlife medicine while providing additional training to those with a special interest in this discipline. A commitment to evidence-based practice of veterinary medicine and One Health are important, as is maintaining a professional and respectful relationship with students, veterinarians, clients, and colleagues.

Required Degree

Doctorate -Veterinary Medicine (DVM, VMD, BVSc, or equivalent

Minimum Requirements

Candidates must have a veterinary medical degree (DVM, VMD, BVSc, or equivalent). Candidates must be licensed or eligible for licensure in the State of Michigan (an academic license option exists).

Desired Qualifications

Candidates with prior experience teaching or mentoring DVM students, experience in zoo and wildlife medicine, and Board certification or eligibility in zoo medicine are preferred.
