Salary: AM1 - 2 £67,344 pro rata pa - £77,764 pro rata pa depending on skills and experience
Annual Leave: 35 days pro rata pa plus standard public holidays and an additional 4 days including the closure of our offices between Christmas & New Year
Location: College Lane, Hatfield
The main purpose of this post is to make a significant contribution to the research portfolio in Social Work and the Centre for Applied Clinical, Health and Care Research in expanding the School's research environment, developing ideas, research teams and collaborations locally, regionally, nationally and internationally. The post holder is expected to develop plans and deliver ambitious research objectives, enabling and supporting growth in research capacity and programmes of work that align with the School's research strategy.
Main duties and responsibilities
To provide strategic direction, cohesion and research leadership as a senior academic, thereby contributing to the success of the School and to support, contribute and lead a cumulative programme of research and generate significant research grant income through local, national and international collaborative projects. In addition the post holder will sustain and develop a reputation and a research team at the forefront of social work research and undertake cross-sector working to benefit populations with a history of marginalisation or poorer social care and wellbeing outcomes.
Skills and experience required
You need to have a strong national profile in Social Work with a developing international trajectory and have lead authorship/role in the preparation of recent high quality, peer reviewed outputs reflecting independent research and demonstrating 3-4 significance. You will have developed and submitted successful and substantial applications for external research funding as the lead or co-applicant.
Qualifications required
PhD in Social Work or related subject and current membership of external bodies relevant to the field

The Appointment Panel for the post will be constituted in such a way that if the successful candidate fulfils the University's Professorships criteria, then the Panel may award a Professor title to the successful applicant.
