Position Summary(Basic Job Function)This is a project pay position. Provides professional support. Responsibilities may include general business, science, medical, agricultural or other professional support functions.
Unit Position SummarySuccessful candidate(s) will perform a variety of laboratory research tasks as determined by available Physiology/Neuroscience laboratories in preparation for pre-professional/research studies/traineeship and the scope of particular study including but not limited to: collecting, compiling and organizing samples and data; maintaining experimental models; offering conceptual improvements for consideration; experiment planning, design, and implementation; following procedures precisely and efficiently; operating and maintaining lab equipment; maintaining detailed records; processing basic financial documents; maintaining and ensuring workspace safety standards; providing timely and cogent communication with PI; assisting in preparing preparing/presenting components for publication, posters, and presentations; assisting with tracking project milestones.
Work based upon educational model and involves conceptual planning and training to gain laboratory experience with discussions and opportunities to practice.
Desired QualificationsMust have Bachelors degree in life sciences or biomedical sciences such as physiology, biology, neuroscience, genetics, human biology, biochemistry, microbiology, or another similar field AND; have applied to a physiology, neuroscience or similar biomedical PhD program OR professional program in veterinary, human or osteopathic medicine; or equivalent education and experience.
Highly desirable, but not required, an advanced degree (M.S.) in an area of life sciences or biomedical science; 1-3 years of laboratory experience; or equivalent education and experience.
