We are seeking highly motivated Principal Project Officers to support the successful delivery of strategic initiatives and projects at the University of Queensland (UQ). These roles offer an exciting opportunity to contribute to diverse and impactful projects within a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
The permanent positions based in our Project Delivery team will be responsible for end-to-end project coordination and execution, ensuring successful delivery within scope, budget, and timeline. These roles involve engaging with stakeholders, managing project risks, and ensuring alignment with strategic objectives.
The fixed term opportunity will be based within the Project Management Office (PMO) team and will play a key role in governance, frameworks and process optimisation. You will be coordinating end-to-end project delivery, streamlining project processes, and providing expert project management support across all phases of the project lifecycle.
Key responsibilities will include:Managing and coordinating project delivery, ensuring projects are completed on time, within budget, and to a high standard.
Developing and implementing project plans, tracking project performance, and preparing reports to provide insights for key stakeholders.
Overseeing project risks, dependencies, and scope changes, ensuring challenges are proactively managed.
Facilitating stakeholder engagement, working closely with project teams, steering groups, and committees to ensure smooth project execution.
Driving process improvements, including automating workflows and developing templates using Microsoft Power Tools.
Supporting communication strategies, preparing project updates, and delivering education sessions to build awareness and engagement.
Building effective relationships with project clients and stakeholders.

Bachelor's degree in a relevant building, construction or project management discipline with at least 4 years subsequent relevant experience and/or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or training.
Demonstrated experience in a role of similar scale and scope.
Current knowledge of best-practice/leading project management methodologies and frameworks.
Demonstrated project planning experience, including the ability to prioritise tasks, work to tight deadlines, anticipate future requirements and resolve issues.
Demonstrated problem solving skills using judgement and reasoning in interpreting situations and providing accurate and consistent advice.
Effective interpersonal skills that enable effective working relationships with internal and external clients and stakeholders of varying levels of seniority.
Excellent time management skills, including the ability to balance competing priorities within tight timeframes.
Advanced written and oral communication skills.
Experience using Microsoft Teams, Sharepoint and the Microsoft Power Tools would be advantageous, or a proven ability to quickly adapt to new technologies.
