  • Position Summary:

    The Aviation Technology Division, Flight Operations Department is seeking qualified applicants for its Preceptor Certified Flight Instructor, Levels I-III labor pool.

    Duties:

    Preceptor CFI I-II:

    The Preceptor Certified Flight Instructor Levels 1 and 2 are responsible for providing pilot ground and flight training to beginning and intermediate students using basic and complex single engine airplanes.

    Preceptor CFI III:

    The Preceptor Certified Flight Instructor Level III is responsible for providing pilot ground and flight training to beginning, intermediate and advanced students using basic and complex single-engine airplanes as well as multi-engine airplanes.

    All Preceptor CFI level employees will be responsible for the training progress of assigned students. They must be able to communicate effectively in the English language and possess a high level of work, systems, and aviation infrastructure related knowledge and technical skill. Additionally, CFI III individuals may be qualified to administer Stage Checks required by the Federal Aviation Administration approved Training Course Outline and will provide input leading to a final course grade for UAA Professional Piloting Students as required.

    Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:

    All levels of this labor pool require FAA Certified Flight Instructor credentials and the knowledge that those credentials imply.

    All candidates must meet the following criteria: a) Be able to communicate effectively and have a high level of technical knowledge and skills. b) Be able to work effectively with individuals having diverse backgrounds and experience. c) Be able to effectively evaluate a student's learning progress based upon established standards of performance relative to the student's experience and stage of development as a pilot.

    All applicants must possess either Basic Med or FAA Third Class Medical Certification.

    All levels of this labor pool require familiarity with the following:

  • Single-engine Airplanes (Basic and Complex)
  • Flight Training Devices (Simulators)
  • Ground Training Aids
  • Record Keeping Systems
  • Aircraft, University, FAA and TSA Documents and Manuals
  • Personal Flying Equipment (to include State of Alaska required Survival Gear)
  • Preferred Experience & Education:

    It is preferred that applicants for all levels of this labor pool possess a Bachelor's degree.

    14 CFR Part 141 experience preferred.

    Preceptor CFI I: FAA Advanced Ground Instructor Certificate preferred.

    Preceptor CFI II & III: FAA Advanced Ground Instructor and Instrument Ground Instructor Certificate preferred.

    Required Experience & Education:

    All levels of this labor pool are required to meet the Pilot-in-Command recent flight experience requirements of 14 CFR Part 61.57

    Preceptor CFI I: Possess either a FAA Commercial Pilot Certificate - Airplane Single-Engine Land with instrument rating or an ATP Certificate - Airplane Single-Engine land.

    Possess a FAA Flight Instructor Certificate - Airplane Single-Engine.

    Preceptor CFI II: Possess either a FAA Commercial Pilot Certificate - Airplane Single-Engine Land with instrument rating or an ATP Certificate - Airplane Single-Engine land.

    Possess the following: a. A FAA Flight Instructor Certificate - Airplane Single-Engine-Instrument Airplane rating. (CFII)

    Preceptor CFI III: Possess either a FAA Commercial Pilot Certificate - Airplane Single and Multi-Engine Land with instrument rating or an ATP Certificate - Airplane Single and Multi-Engine land rating.

    Possess the following: a. A FAA Flight Instructor Certificate - Airplane Single and Multi-Engine- Instrument Airplane rating.

    Salary Information:

    Preceptor CFI I: $30.31/hour

    Preceptor CFI II: $32.47/hour

    Preceptor CFI III: $35.89/hour
