We have a new and exciting opportunity at the Department of Biomedical Services, Radiobiology Research institute (RRI).

We are looking for a Pre-clinical Imaging Lead Scientist to join our Pre- clinical Imaging Facility at the University of Oxford.

The Pre-clinical imaging facility provides technical and scientific support for internal and external users. We have a broad range of scanning modalities which includes MRI, PET/SPECT/CT, luminescence and ultrasound. The work undertaken ranges from the provision of full study support for user groups, to the development of new and better technologies to enhance the use of pre- clinical imaging.

This is a full time, 5-year fixed term position, which will report to the Director of Biomedical Services and involve working closely with the Biomedical Services Senior leadership team. You will also play a leading role in managing the imaging facility and its team. Scientific mentorship will be provided by Professor Damian Tyler, academic lead for the facility and Chair of the facility's Academic Steering Group. The postholder will have responsibility for the implementation of the strategic development of the imaging facility as defined by the Academic Steering Group.

The post holder will promote the facility across the university, as well as to other research establishments and to industrial partners. You will also be required to lead on research and development programmes, to develop and validate new imaging technologies across the facility.

About you

It is essential that you hold a Ph.D/D.Phil in a relevant subject, e.g. physics, biophysics, medical/biomedical imaging, and have extensive experience of magnetic resonance imaging techniques and equipment.

You will also have the ability to lead and motivate a team of research staff, as well as managing and advising your own team. Excellent communication and presentation skills are essential, and experience in presenting effectively to both small groups and larger audiences is desirable.

Holding a Home Office PIL or PPL would be desirable.
