Join the Pre-Award team in Research and Innovation Services (RIS)! We're looking for someone to be part of our team, in this brand-new role.

About the role

Working within a small but highly collaborative team, the Pre-Award Support Officer will play a crucial part in providing support to several different roles. Your primary responsibility will be to support the Pre-Award Development Officers in the team, but there may be occasional need to provide support to Due Diligence and Research Systems. If successful in your application to this post, your work will support colleagues in ensuring all research applications and awards are both compliant and of the highest quality.

Our team works both remotely and on campus, as part of a hybrid model (everyone is required to work on campus for some of their week - this is not a fully remote role). Please feel free to contact us to ask questions about this prior to applying, or during the interview process if you are shortlisted to attend. It is strongly preferred that you are available to work Wednesdays on campus to join the weekly team meeting and only very exceptional circumstances may be considered around this.

Research and Innovation Services is responsible for advancing the University's international reputation for research and knowledge transfer by:

  • increasing the volume of externally funded research
  • improving grant application success rates
  • enhancing strategic and operational support to academic departments
  • Our department is the primary conduit for government, business, charity and other funders to access the research expertise and knowledge of the University of Bath.

This role is offered on a part time (21.9 hours per week) permanent basis.

    About you

This role requires excellent organisational, interpersonal and communication skills along with a good understanding of the research funding landscape for the higher education sector, and some familiarity with costing systems used to support funding applications.

    You will also have:
  • excellent numeracy and IT skills
  • excellent attention to detail
  • self-confidence and the ability to stand your ground, remaining calm under pressure
  • good self-motivation and time-management
  • a good Honours degree or equivalent experience
  • For further information

Please contact Lizzie Hope-Dyer, Head of Pre-Award ([email protected]), however, please ensure that your application is submitted via the University website.

We look forward to reading your application!
