Pay Scale: STANDARD GRADE 7

Salary (£): £36,024 - £44,263 per annum

Location: Translational Gastroenterology Unit - Level 5, John Radcliffe Hospital, Headington, Oxford, OX3 9DU

Contract Type: Fixed-Term

Hours: Full-Time

About the Role

We are looking for dynamic and academically driven postdoctoral researcher to join our interdisciplinary team, exploring how fibroblast cues regulate fibrotic niches in the human and mouse intestine. You will be applying a range of molecular biology techniques (e.g., single cell/spatial transcriptomics & proteomics) to profile patient cohort samples and mouse tissues, conduct and analyse in vivo mouse models, develop and deploy mechanistic tissue organoid assays, and carry out integrative bioinformatic analyses.

Besides your project responsibilities, you will become an integrative part of the research group, supporting the team in a wide variety of experimental approaches and with topical expertise. You will liaise with your direct supervisor, and other members of group, regarding experiments and general laboratory procedures.

About You

Applicants must hold a PhD in a relevant subject, or be close to completion.

You will also need to demonstrate that you have:

• An ability to independently manage own research and administrative activities.

• Experience of following, adapting and generating experimental and analytic protocols.

• Hands-on experience of in vivo mouse models.

• An excellent understanding of intestinal immunity.

• A keen interest in the pathophysiology of inflammatory bowel disease and intestinal fibrosis.

• Excellent communication skills, including the ability to write text that can be published, and present data at meeting.

Having expertise in cutting-edge bioinformatic analysis and having an expert understanding of fibrosis pathomechanisms would both be desirable attributes for this post.
