About the role
Cell for Triple-Junction Solar Cells
Postdoctoral Researcher (f/m/d) Development of a Mid-Bandgap PerovskiteCell for Triple-Junction Solar Cells
Reference No.: SE 2026/12Helmholtz-Zentrum Berlin (HZB) conducts cutting-edge research on energy materials and operates one of Europe's most advanced research infrastructures, the BESSY II synchrotron. The Perovskite Tandem Solar Cells Department develops metal halide perovskite solar cells and has achieved several world- record efficiencies in recent years for perovskite/silicon (32.5%) and perovskite/CIGS (24.2%) tandem solar cells. Building on these achievements, we are developing perovskite-based triple-junction solar cells to further increase power conversion efficiency. Initial results demonstrating an efficiency of 27% were recently published in Joule (DOI:10.1016/j.joule.2026.102575). This position focuses on investigating the film formation and crystallization of co-evaporated mid-bandgap perovskites and integrating them into high-efficiency triple-junction solar cells. To strengthen our international and interdisciplinary team, we are looking for a highly motivated postdoctoral researcher with experience in perovskite solar cells.
Your TasksCompleted Ph.D. in Materials Science, Physics, Chemistry, Engineering, or a related field
Strong knowledge of semiconductor technology and the physics of multi- junction solar cells
At Helmholtz-Zentrum Berlin, you will benefit from a collaborative international environment, state-of-the-art research facilities, and a wide range of benefits to support your scientific career:
