We are now inviting applications for the position of Postdoctoral Researcher. The position is for a fixed term with a starting date in May 2024 or as agreed upon, and ending in December 2026. The location of the position is Vaasa, Finland.

Your Role

You will be working as a Postdoctoral Researcher in a Nordic Energy Research funded project “Vehicle battery storage for green transport and grid stability in the Nordics” (Best4Grid, 2024-2026). In this project, we aim to enable the widespread implementation of green transport and the vehicle-to-everything (V2X) technology, by providing technical solutions, a common legislative framework, business strategies, and a roadmap tailored for the Nordics.

Your tasks as a Postdoctoral Researcher are:

  • Carry out project activities as part of Best4Grid research team at the University of Vaasa to develop an energy market model and to study the impact of changes in rules and regulations on various market players and stakeholders, enabling analysis on energy communities' regulation, market structures and local energy market architectures as well as user behaviour and societal impacts.
  • Preparing research proposals for national and international calls
  • Publishing research results as a part of research team
  • Administrative tasks related to project management
  • The position is research-oriented. The position is located either in the School of Marketing and Communication or School of Technology and Innovations, based on the selected person's research profile. The person selected for the position will also have an opportunity to collaborate with the University's multidisciplinary research platforms Digital Economy, InnoLab, and Vebic.

    Work may include other tasks to be agreed upon separately. The annual working time is 1612 hours based on the general collective agreement for universities. More detailed task description is agreed in the Annual Work Plan.

    Requirements

    A person selected for the position of Postdoctoral Researcher is required to have a doctoral degree in the field of technology, business and economics, or social sciences, and the ability to conduct independently high-level scientific research on the specified area. You are ready to share your knowledge with your colleagues and develop yourself as a researcher.

    Excellent analytical skills, academic writing skills, and communication skills are highly advantageous for your candidature. A proven track record to conduct successfully empirical research and research collaboration in the topic of the research project is considered an advantage.

    Researcher mobility and active participation in international scientific research networks are also looked upon favourably.

    Fluent written and spoken English language skills are mandatory in the position. Read more about the selection process and language guidelines.

    The salary is based on both the job requirement and the employee's personal performance in accordance with the Finnish University Salary System (YPJ). The salary for a Postdoctoral Researcher is based on demand level 5 (approximately 3400-3800 euros/month based on the applicant's experience and performance).
