Job description
Understanding anti-tumour gamma delta T cells in pancreatic cancer
About us
The CRUK Scotland Institute where the lab is based is a world leading cancer research institute, situated in the vibrant city of Glasgow in Scotland and hosting approximately 60 postdoctoral researcher scientists at any one time. It has an excellent reputation for fundamental cancer research, including world-class metabolism studies and renowned in vivo modelling of tumour growth and metastasis.
Project outline
Gamma delta T cells are a type of immune cell that consists of several unique subsets. However, their role in pancreatic cancer is not clear. We have found that one particular subset of gamma delta T cell can prevent the formation of pancreatic cancer. The successful candidate will explore the mechanisms of how gamma delta T cells can kill pancreatic cancer cells in mouse models and in vitro assays. The candidate will also learn traditional immunology and molecular biology techniques.
